YOUNGSTOWN – Mr. Sylvester “Slim” Stanley Sr., 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021 at the Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by his loving family.

Sylvester, also known as “Slim” by his family and friends, was born August 31, 1942 in Youngstown, son of Otha and Lorine Stanley.

He had worked at Lordstown General Motors for 36 years and retired in 2006. He enjoyed driving his trucks and doing transportation. He loved football, basketball and being with family.

He lets cherish his memories and rejoice in his peace, his loving wife of 58 years, Theodora “Tessie” Stanley; his daughter, Marcella Stanley of Mentor; her son, Sylvester Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, Billy and Donell White of Dayton; one sister, Anette White, of Dayton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Otha Stanley; his mother, Lorine White; and three brothers, Otis, Harold and Willie Stanley.

Visitations will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at LE Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, with services starting at 11 a.m. for family only. Guests are asked to wear masks, practice social distancing, and not to linger at the funeral home after the viewing.
