Naomi Osaka

Tennis star Naomi Osaka, who is also the 2021 Met Gala co-chair, arrived hand-in-hand with boyfriend Cordae. She honored her Japanese and Haitian heritage with a colorful Louis Vuitton ruffle dress, paired with a bright red Obi belt and bold makeup. While the look was snubbed by many for being too bizarre and haphazard, it maintained the multicultural spirit of the event.

Special mention

While technically not an athlete, wife and NFL singer Ciara’s 2021 Met Gala dress was a nod to her husband Russell Wilson – the NFL star with the Seattle Seahawks. Ciara donned a shimmering neon green dress wearing Wilson’s number 3 jersey. The long-sleeved Dundas dress was cut out at the sides and also had dramatic epaulettes identical to NFL jerseys. She wore an emerald green eyeshadow and Wilson’s Super Bowl ring as the ultimate accessory.
