As everyone expected for the playoffs, Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks are preparing for the Eastern Conference Finals against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
OK, so nobody really expected that, and for good reason. The Philadelphia 76ers were seeded in the East and had home court advantage in Game 7 on Sunday night. While playing away from his best game in the series, Young did enough to help Atlanta keep their playoff hopes and move closer to the NBA Finals. The fact that he managed to do it on Father’s Day and also provided his dad with his match jersey after the victory is just the icing on the cake.
Young struggled on the field in the Hawks’ victory shooting just 5 for 23 from the field and 2 for 11 from beyond the arc. However, he managed to be much more successful on the foul line as he knocked down nine of his 11 charity strip attempts to end the win with 21 points and 10 assists.
Obviously, Young wished he had performed better in that win for Atlanta but, in the end, his team got the job done and he left his father with a memory he will surely never forget.
