Christian Eriksen will get a defibrillator; Denmark falls in Belgium https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/christian-eriksen-will-get-a-defibrillator-denmark-falls-in-belgium/ https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/christian-eriksen-will-get-a-defibrillator-denmark-falls-in-belgium/#respond Mon, 21 Jun 2021 21:24:00 +0000 https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/christian-eriksen-will-get-a-defibrillator-denmark-falls-in-belgium/

UPDATE, June 18: The Danish Football Association said on Friday that Christian Eriksen had undergone successful surgery implant a defibrillator to monitor and correct their heart rate. He was also released from the hospital and, after a brief visit with his teammates, returned home to continue his recovery.

Fans cheered Christian Eriksen on the streets and parks of Copenhagen, and shouted his name from the stands at Parken Stadium. And, in the 10th minute, the Danish and Belgian players even stopped their match to encourage him at their side.

They all cheered loudly enough, at that point, that Eriksen probably could have heard them had he opened his hospital room window less than a mile away. He has been there since Saturday, when he collapsed on the pitch in cardiac arrest during a Euro 2020 soccer match. And while Eriksen’s Danish teammates returned to the pitch on Thursday, s ‘Tipping 2-1 against Belgium, in a moving match, he will stay in the hospital a little longer.

Thursday morning, the Danish team doctor mentionned that Eriksen will have a defibrillator implanted to help prevent future heart episodes.

The device, an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator, or ICD, will be placed under Eriksen’s skin and will monitor his heart rate. A combined pacemaker and defibrillator, the device tracks a person’s heart rate and can send electrical pulses to restore a normal rhythm if needed.

“After Christian had various heart exams it was decided that he should have an ICD (cardiac starter),” doctor Morten Boesen said in a press release issued by the Danish Football Association. “This device is needed after a heart attack due to arrhythmias.”

“Christian accepted the solution,” he added.

The announcement came hours before Denmark entered the pitch to face Belgium at Parken Stadium, the same arena where Eriksen had collapsed in a game against Finland five days earlier.

Eriksen was a constant presence during the match: thousands of fans arrived dressed in his No.10 jersey, a giant replica of which was carried onto the pitch ahead of the match to the cheers of fans from both teams. Eriksen watched from his hospital room, close enough to hear his name chants.

Belgium was also thinking of him. His captain, Jan Vertonghen, one of Eriksen’s former teammates in the Belgium squad, arrived for the pre-match draw with a framed team jersey signed by his players. Vertonghen, who played with Eriksen for several years at Tottenham Hotspur in England, introduced him to his Danish counterpart, Simon Kjaer.

The Danish players formed a tight circle in the moments leading up to kick-off, bracing for what lay ahead. Two minutes into the game, a week of emotions was unleashed when Yussuf Poulsen fired a low shot into the net to give Denmark a 1-0 lead.

In the 10th minute, the Belgian players put the ball out of play to stop the game in tribute to Eriksen, joining the crowd for a standing ovation for nearly a minute. Several Belgian players, including striker Romelu Lukaku, Eriksen’s attacking partner at Italian champions Inter Milan, played alongside Eriksen for European club teams.

“All of Denmark is with you, Christian,” read a long Danish banner that was unfurled in the stands behind a goal.

Medical officials did not address Eriksen’s possible return to sport in their statement about his treatment.

Another Euro player, Dutchman Daley Blind, had a similar device implanted in 2019 after two collapses in the game, although it is not clear how directly his condition compares to that of ‘Eriksen. Blind and Eriksen are friends and former teammates of Dutch central Ajax Amsterdam.

Eriksen, 29, collapsed on the pitch at the end of the first half of a game on Saturday, then received life-saving treatment, including CPR, as his teammates and fans during of the match in Copenhagen – and a global TV audience – watched in shock. After a delay, play resumed, a decision which was heavily criticized in Denmark, including by current and former players on the team and his head coach. Finland won 1-0.

Eriksen posted a message and photo from the hospital on Tuesday thanking fans for their good wishes, saying: “I’m fine, under the circumstances.”

Denmark’s manager Kasper Hjulmand said he expected Eriksen to watch the game from the hospital. After the loss to Finland, the game was essential for Denmark’s hopes to advance in the tournament.

The beginning of the storybook lasted a half before the Belgian talent changed the game. Thorgan Hazard tied in the 55th minute and Kevin De Bruyne added a second 15 minutes later. Like Hazard, he tempered his celebration, likely out of respect for Eriksen, and because his goal led Denmark dangerously close to the tournament exit gate ahead of a visit from Russia in the teams’ final group game on Monday.

“We know anything is still possible,” said forward Martin Braithwaite.

Denmark captain Kjaer was among the first to reach Eriksen when he collapsed on Saturday, and he appeared on the verge of tears as he warmed up for the restart 90 minutes later. Kjaer was substituted in the second half of the game but was sent back to the starting lineup against Belgium.

Ahead of the game, he released a statement to fans in which he said the team “will enter the pitch against Belgium with Christian in our hearts and thoughts”. But he also said the team had work to do.

“It gives us peace of mind, which allows us to focus on football,” he said knowing that Eriksen’s condition had stabilized. “We will play for Christian, and as always for all of Denmark. It is the greatest motivation for all of us.

As everyone expected for the playoffs, Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks are preparing for the Eastern Conference Finals against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.

OK, so nobody really expected that, and for good reason. The Philadelphia 76ers were seeded in the East and had home court advantage in Game 7 on Sunday night. While playing away from his best game in the series, Young did enough to help Atlanta keep their playoff hopes and move closer to the NBA Finals. The fact that he managed to do it on Father’s Day and also provided his dad with his match jersey after the victory is just the icing on the cake.

Young struggled on the field in the Hawks’ victory shooting just 5 for 23 from the field and 2 for 11 from beyond the arc. However, he managed to be much more successful on the foul line as he knocked down nine of his 11 charity strip attempts to end the win with 21 points and 10 assists.

Obviously, Young wished he had performed better in that win for Atlanta but, in the end, his team got the job done and he left his father with a memory he will surely never forget.

The family persisted as they say Tina would, not remaining in sadness but enjoying being together as much as possible.

“Like my mom, love those around you as much as you can,” CJ Ham said. “It’s not about yourself, it’s about others. Keeping a strong influence of black women around the Ham children is important to Stephanie.

She thanked CJ’s older sister, Markeeta, who has four children, for being a role model and resource.

Stephanie said she has learned through books and family about which product to use in her daughters’ hair. Skylar will be 5 in July, but they have already discussed how others react to his skin color.

“There have been times she has been called ‘Oh, you’re black, your skin is brown,’ and the fact that my daughter doesn’t know what that means,” CJ Ham said. “She was upset because it almost sounded like she was being flagged as different. No child wants to be different.

MLB Baseball Jersey Mystery Mud Doctors | National sports https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/mlb-baseball-jersey-mystery-mud-doctors-national-sports/ https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/mlb-baseball-jersey-mystery-mud-doctors-national-sports/#respond Sun, 20 Jun 2021 14:00:00 +0000 https://wholesalenfljerseysforcheapest.com/mlb-baseball-jersey-mystery-mud-doctors-national-sports/

PHILADELPHIA – Mud is found at low tide, shoveled from the banks of the waterway and put in buckets to be returned to a garage on the Jersey Shore.

It has been harvested – this is how Jim Bintliff describes the act of digging mud – in South Jersey for over 80 years since one of Connie Mack’s assistant coaches discovered he could help. to grab baseballs.

And while Major League Baseball is cracking down this month on pitchers using foreign substances to heal balls, this mysterious slime remains the only league-approved agent to be applied to baseballs.

But where exactly is it found?

“The way I describe it and the way it has always been described is that it is a tributary of the Delaware River on the Jersey side,” Bintliff said. “It’s the best I can do.”

Mud – officially called Lena Blackburne Baseball Rubbing Mud – is used by all major and minor league teams.

The official MLB rulebook says that every ball must be “properly rubbed so that the shine is removed.” And before each game, a clubhouse attendant scrubs the balls to be used that night with the South Jersey mud.

It takes Dan O’Rourke, the Phillies’ head of umpire and umpiring services, about 30 minutes to scrub the balls before each game at Citizens Bank Park. The mud removes the shine from the baseball, exposes the leather and gives the pitcher better grip.

Other companies have tried to replicate mud, and Major League Baseball recently tried to produce a baseball that no longer needs to be rubbed with mysterious mud. But both have failed.

“It’s the geology of mud,” said Bintliff, who owns the business and runs it with his wife, Joanne. “The properties of it. It’s a really fine and super fine abrasive. It’s all in the mineral content of the mud. They haven’t been able to replicate it and they haven’t been able to. to replace it. “

The use of foreign substances by pitchers has emerged this season as baseball’s latest cheating scandal, leading the league to announce this week that pitchers will be suspended for 10 games if caught applying. substances on the balls.

Starting Monday, the referees will check pitchers throughout the game for sticky substances. Commissioner Rob Manfred said he had determined that “a new application of the foreign substances laws was necessary to level the playing field”.

Launchers had long used spit, pine tar, and sunscreen to get better grip on their pitches. But the recent use of advanced substances like Spider Tack – which is used to lift atlas stones in Strongman competitions – allowed throwers to maximize spin speed on their pitches.

“It became clear that the use of foreign substances generally turned into trying to get a better grip on the ball into something else – an unfair competitive advantage that creates a lack of action and an uneven playing field.” , said Manfred.

The offense has hit all-time lows this season in batting and strikeout average, leading Major League Baseball to curb the practice of spoofing baseballs in the hopes that it would inject more action into the game. a desperate game.

“It’s been a rule in baseball forever, and you’ve decided to start using it,” Phillies manager Joe Girardi said. “Now they say you can’t, but you weren’t supposed to use it before. It’s an admission of guilt for me. “

Now MLB will try to make sure that the only foreign substance added to the ball is mud that is somewhere in South Jersey.

Mud harvest

The Mud Story begins in 1938 when a referee complained to Philadelphia A’s third baseman Russell “Lena” Blackburne about the condition of the baseballs after they were prepped for the game. just using water and soil in the field.

The mixture made the blankets soft and easily weathered. So Blackburne, who grew up in Palmyra, tried to use mud from the same tributary to southern Jersey that Bintliff is now digging his crop on. It worked as the mud removed the shine from the bullet but softened the blanket.

Every team in the American League would soon be using Blackburne’s mud and eventually the National League was on board as well. Blackburne played eight-season games in the majors for four teams and coached the White Sox for two seasons before joining Mack’s staff.

Shortly before his death in 1968, Blackburne handed over the mud business to Bintliff’s grandfather, John Hass. The company then moved to Bintliff’s father, Burns Bintliff. The mud business became Jim Bintliff’s in 2000 and he calls it a labor of love.

“My grandfather gave it to him in 1965. I was 9 years old,” said Bintliff, who retired in 2015 from his job as a printing press operator after 33 years. “I remember going out the first time to help him get some mud. It’s so unique. I think it’s really neat and I feel like I’m part of the game. proud to be the guy who supplies the mud. I am proud to carry on the family tradition. “

The mud business grew outside of baseball, as Bintliff said half of NFL teams – and a growing list of universities – applied mud to their soccer balls.

“Dude, football kicks my ass,” he said.

Bintliffs do not advertise or sell sales pitches as the product is sold primarily by word of mouth.

Bintliff goes out seven or eight times a year for a harvest, driving his van from his home in Longport, NJ, to the same mud hole his grandfather used. It brings help and a good harvest, Bintliff said, can yield up to 20 five-gallon buckets full of mud.

He brings the mud back to his garage, filters it and washes it.

“That’s about it,” he said. “I like to compare it to wine. I let it age a bit. After five or six weeks after harvest, it’s ready to go.”

The mud is then packaged and sent to stadiums across the country. Every baseball this season, as it has for decades, is rubbed with Bintliff’s mud.

And if Major League Baseball’s crackdown is successful, that will be the only foreign substance added to the ball. But the league still won’t know where to find him.

“It’s pretty funny when you think about it,” Bintliff said. “I’m just that man in Longport with mud in his garage.”

“All indications are that the visits this summer are going to be very, very high,” said Superintendent Craig Ackerman.

Last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, a record number of visitors were recorded in July, August and December. This could cause problems for visitors and cause delays in entering the park and, once inside, finding parking, especially at Rim Village.

Additionally, several park facilities, including the Munson Valley and Rim Village Visitor Centers, will remain closed this season. Currently, only limited ranger programs, such as junior ranger activities, campfire programs, and ranger guided walks, are scheduled.

Lake boat trips and Crater Lake tram tours are permanently canceled.

The Steel Visitor Center at park headquarters will be closed for a two-year renovation project, with visitor services being moved to a temporary facility in Mazama village, near the park’s south entrance. The rehabilitation will update all systems, ensure structural integrity and preserve its cultural history, Ackerman said.

The Crater Lake Natural History Association sales office will operate out of the Rim Village community daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office sells books about the park and the area as well as field guides, maps, park themed clothing, postcards, snacks and park related items. A percentage of the proceeds is used to help fund research projects and interpretive programs related to the park, such as the Night Sky Program, Pika Studies, and Lake Research.

Concession facilities, including the Annie Creek Gift Shop / Restaurant, Mazama Campground, and Rim Village Gift Shop / Restaurant, are open with some reduced dining options.

Mazama Cabins are already reserved for the entire season. Annie Creek Restaurant and Gift Shop has indoor seating, an outdoor patio, and serves lunch from 11 am to 3 pm and dinner from 5 to 8:30 pm Mazama Campground, which could open in a few days, will be on a reservation system from July 1st. The Mazama Village Camper Store and gas station are open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The historic Crater Lake Lodge is open but, as happened in 2020, the restaurant and Great Hall are only open to lodge guests.

Public washrooms are located at Rim Village, with vaulted washrooms at the Old West and North Entrance, Ponderosa and Goodbye Picnic Area, and Watchman Overlook.

Ackerman said the park began prescribed burning of brush piles along Highway 62 and around the administrative area earlier this month, but expressed concerns about a possibly inflammatory fire season. As of Friday, the park had received only 64% of its annual average snowfall, although its total precipitation was well above average.

“It fell as rain, not snow,” he said.

Visitors should be prepared to stand in long lines to enter the park, and once inside they may have difficulty parking in the Rim Village area. Additional parking will once again be available at Picnic Hill, the former Rim Village campground.

Ackerman said there are no plans to require reservations to enter the park, which is done in other national parks. Long-term plans include upgrading and possibly adding kiosks at the two entrance stations, the south entrance near Annie Creek and the north entrance. Due to the road configuration at the entrance to Annie Creek, the addition of a second kiosk will require a realignment of the road.

While work is progressing on the opening of East Rim Drive from the junction of the North Entrance to the Munson Valley, he expressed concern that those wishing to hike the Cleetwood Cove Trail from 1.1 mile to the lake will not be able to do this until major land clearing is completed. . Falling trees, falling rocks and erosion over the winter months have made the trail unsafe, but it could be open later this month.

Park staff will again be stationed at the Rim Drive trailhead to prevent people from taking illegal items that could harm the purity of the lake, such as flotation devices. “We learned very quickly how to handle this,” Ackerman said, referring to staffing the trail with rangers last summer.

He expressed his disappointment that he had to cancel the ever popular lake boat tours and the increasingly popular Crater Lake streetcar tours, noting: “A lot of people called and asked if the streetcar tours would be offered. “

According to Ackerman, “It will be a summer impacted by COVID.”

Big plans for the future at Crater Lake

Major refurbishment of the Munson Valley Visitor Center is creating challenges for park staff and visitors, likely until fall 2022, and more major projects may be on the way.

Major projects planned for the coming years include continued improvements on East Rim Drive from Cleetwood Cove to Munson Valley and the possible construction of the park’s first true visitor center in Rim Village.

Ackerman, who is in his 14th season as a senior Crater Lake official, said the National Park Service’s budget for fiscal year 2022 includes approximately $ 45 million to continue improvements to approximately 17 miles of the East Rim. Drive. Major repairs and some possible realignments of the road are planned. During construction, visitors will not be able to complete the entire 33 mile Rim Drive tour, but will instead be required to make the round trip. The crews will concentrate the work on relatively short sections of the road, about two or three miles at a time. The impacts on the annual Crater Lake Rim Runs-Marathon and Crater Lake Ride the Rim events are uncertain.

Due to the generally heavy snowfall and the park’s short construction season, typically late June through October, work on the East Rim Drive is expected to be a multi-year project.

Other projects received an interim green light, including a major rehabilitation of the Cleetwood Cove Trail, the only trail that accesses the lake, as well as improvements to the boat dock area.

Construction of a visitor center in the village of Rim is tentatively scheduled for 2024. The current information stations in and around the Munson Valley are considered “visitor contact stations”. The new center, which has been the subject of discussions for more than 20 years, is expected to offer improved and expanded offerings.

Ackerman noted that the park’s trail management plan, which contemplates several new hiking trails as well as biking trails, is open for public review. Adding new trails, he said, should help disperse visitors.

The trails offered include Pumice Desert Overlook, Mazama Rock, Mazama Cleetwood Connector, Mazama to Picnic, Cascade Mazama Connector, Skell Head to Cascade Spring Connector, Skell Head to Cascades Springs Connector, and Headquarters Trail to Rim Loop, as well as several others.

SEATTLE (AP) – JP Crawford scored the winning run on Mitch Haniger’s 10th inning single and hit a grand slam to lift the Seattle Mariners over the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5 on Saturday night.

Tampa Bay hitter Brandon Lowe tied for 5 points with a solo home run in the start of the ninth against Kendall Graveman. Crawford had the opportunity to end the game late in the inning, but struck out a third-place man.

He took second in the bottom of the 10th as designated baserunner and scored on Haniger’s single to JP Feyereisen’s left field (3-3) for Seattle’s third straight win and sixth in his last seven.

“It’s great what he’s doing.” Seattle starter Logan Gilbert said. “This guy must be an All-Star.”

Crawford entered the game with an average of .346 in the lead this season. His first career slam helped the Rays suffer a fifth straight loss, a season-high. It was the Mariners’ 16th win from behind, and they are now 7-1 in extra innings.

Crawford’s right-field liner jumped off the wall and into the stands to cap a five-run second inning against Rays starter Josh Fleming. The Gold Glove shortstop said the slam was particularly emotional given the day, as the Mariners wore homecoming jerseys similar to the Seattle Steelheads from the Negro Leagues as a celebration of Juneteenth.

“It hit me a little differently today with everything going on with Juneteenth and wearing these jerseys,” said Crawford, who is black. “It was so special to me.”

When asked if he would keep his jersey, Crawford replied, “It’s in my backpack. I take this home and frame it. “

Former Rays player Jake Bauers added a single RBI in the second inning.

Hailed prospect Logan Gilbert struck out seven batters – including main hitter Randy Arozarena on three occasions – in 5 2/3 innings, scattering six hits without a goal. He ceded solo homers to Mike Zunino and Manuel Margot, which reduced the Mariners’ lead to 5-4 in the sixth. He was heading for his third straight win until Graveman’s breathless save, his first of the season in six attempts.

Rafael Montero (4-2) threw the 10th to win the match.

Joey Wendle and Zunino each produced a run in the second inning to give Tampa Bay a 2-0 lead. But Kyle Seager, Tom Murphy and Bauers led the second with hits and Fleming accompanied Dylan Moore to charge the bases. He put out the next two batters on strikes before Crawford connected.

Fleming struck out five strikes in 6 1/3 innings with two walks. He allowed just three hits after the second inning, but regretted the lead he threw at Crawford.

“I didn’t think it was a bad shot. … I really see it as a shot that beat me, ”Fleming said.

LIST MOVEMENT

The Rays called RHP Drew Rasmussen and offered INF Mike Brosseau to Triple-A Durham. Rasmussen, acquired May 21 from the Milwaukee Brewers in Willy Adames trade, made his debut, striking out four catches in 1 2/3 innings.

TRAINERS ‘ROOM

Mariners: An MRI scan shows muscle tension in RHP Justin Dunn’s right shoulder and it will be closed for two weeks, manager Scott Servais said. Once Dunn resumes the throw, he will be re-evaluated. Dunn retired after two innings in his last start and entered the 10-day injured list for the second time this month on Friday.

FOLLOWING

Spokes: LHP Shane McClanahan (2-2, 4.42) closes the series for the Rays. Seventy percent of McClanahan’s allowed points resulted in two outs.

Mariners: LHP Marco Gonzales (1-4, 5.44) has gone 0-2 since returning from the 10-day injured list for a sprained left forearm on May 31.
